Default Game of the Year 2008 Upgrade Information

Purchasing the Game of the Year 2008 Upgrade in the in-game store and PlayNC is one of the methods to get the Fire Imp.

Not everyone will be able to see the 2008 Upgrade in the in-game store. The only people who will see the Game of the Year 2008 Upgrade in the in-game store are people who have purchased a retail box copy of the Game of the Year Edition of Guild Wars.

If you have not purchased the Game of the Year edition of Guild Wars, you will see the Game of the Year Upgrade in the Guild Wars in-game store, not the 2008 Game of the Year Upgrade. Purchasing the Game of the Year upgrade will give you access to the GOTY weapons and the Fire Imp.

If you have previously purchased the Game of the Year edition of Guild Wars, or the Game of the Year Upgrade in the in-game store or PlayNC, you should have access to the Fire Imp already.
  • These are all the ways you can get the Fire Imp:
  • Purchase Guild Wars Trilogy (North America) or Guild Wars Complete Collection (Europe)
  • Purchase new versions of Guild Wars products in North America and Europe—look for the Fire Imp on the back of the box
  • Purchase the Guild Wars 2008 Upgrade or the Game of the Year Upgrade, available in the in-game store or PlayNC.com
  • If you've already purchased any of the Guild Wars games via the in-game store or PlayNC.com, access to the Fire Imp will be added to your account automatically on September 5, 2008.

Please note that purchasing character slots does not qualify you for a Fire Imp.

Can we purchase a extra slot, and get access to the Fire Imp? Or do we have to buy one of the campaigns, or the Bonus Mission Pack to have access?

No need of it when you're 20. It's meant to be a leveling buddy, not a constant source of fire damage.

That said, I'll miss the lil fella when I max...I kind of wish it turned into a minipet at 20.

But with the, "Only one per instance" rule on it, not much difference allowing it to be used at lvl 20 aswell

Seriously....

She explained every single detail about the fire imp here http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10322526 in the first thread.

Then she made this thread for a more concise description.

Then 7 minutes later she put it in bullet points.

I don't think she can simplify it anymore.

Damage is damage. ANet wants to put less emphasis on the lower levels, hence that EOTN buff and now this.

Thank you for the clarification, Regina. I will have to check the online store and see if any of this applies to me (though, when I checked last night, I didn't see anything that I could purchase other than PvP upgrades and character slots).

Update: Yep, the "2008 Upgrade" Fire Imp is located at the bottom of the Upgrades list.

how is this complex, if you already own the game of the year pack you can obtain him already, if not you can get him with a purchase of the upgrade pack OR with a new campaign or expansion (Which will say on box about fire imp).

This was complex because some of us had not heard of the 2008 Upgrade until the Announcement - so we were curious what it was.

Furthermore, it was "complex" because I did not see the 2008 Upgrade in my in-game store until today so, as one of us who already owned every other option, I was curious why I was not seeing the option.

Just to mention, Regina, that the wording of your OP is a little bit confusing. I have the GotY (and I correctly obtain the little Fire Imp), but the only thing I can see in the online store is the "1 Million Edition Upgrade" (which has the GotY weapons and the Fire Imp, but contrarily to the other Games, it doesn't say that I have it already). No mention of the "Game of the Year 2008 Upgrade", so I'm not sure if I didn't read your OP correctly or there's something missing here.

What about the European 1 Million Edition? I bought that in Store as Box. Will there be also an update in the Shop as I don't see any yet. And I dont got the Fire Imp now.
